National Coalition Against Censorship’s Annual Celebration of Free Speech and Its Defenders

Join us on Monday, November 29, 2010 for NCAC’s Annual Celebration of Free Speech and Its Defenders at City Winery in Tribeca, in NYC. You can expect a great party, chaired by Michael Jacobs, President & CEO, Abrams. Rub shoulders with publishers, authors, entertainers and other movers and shakers in the world of arts and letters. This year’s program focuses on book censorship in schools and honors courageous people who fight against it.

Who: National Coalition Against Censorship and Event Chair, Michael Jacobs, President & CEO, Abrams. Lauren Myracle – the most censored author in 2009; Dee Ann Venuto – Media Center Coordinator, Rancocas Valley High School, Mt. Holly, NJ, who fought to keep GLBTQ books in the library; Jordan Allen – first place winner, Youth Free Expression Contest film contest, “Free Speech in Schools (Does it Exist?); and other free speech luminaries.

What: NCAC’s Annual Celebration of Free Speech and Its Defenders. This year’s program focuses on book censorship in schools and honors courageous people who fight against it. Cocktails, dinner and entertainment.
