On September 4th, a group of hackers claimed to have Mitt Romney’s tax returns.
They made a post on Pastebinsaying:
The deal is quite simple. Convert $1,000,000 USD to Bitcoins (Google if if you need a lesson on what Bitcoin is) using the various markets available out in the world for buying. Transfer the Bitcoins gathered to the Bitcoin address listed below. It does not matter if small amounts or one large amount is transferred, as long as the final value of the Bitcoins is equal to $1,000,000 USD at the time when it is finished.
People have the option to donate to a Bitcoin address to stop the release, or to donate to another Bitcoin address to promote the release.
September 28th is the day where they were supposed to release the tax returns.
So what happened on September 28th? Absolutely nothing.
Using Blockchain, we were able to view all the Bitcoins coming their 2 Bitcoin addresses.
They have made over .7BTC from the address to stop the release, and about 3BTC from the address to promote the full release.
So congratulations on the 45$ the hackers made from this utterly ridiculous hoax.
This was a great opportunity for hackers to take advantage of the political corruption and transparency going on in America.
