Beijing: Students and faculty at China‘s top university are being told they can no longer photocopy documents considered subversive.
A report in today’s Global Times newspaper quotes a police order posted in one copy room at Peking University that says, “Materials that express hate against the party, the state or the social politics are forbidden. Do not photocopy.”
The ban is the latest move to control the flow of information in China, where media and the Internet are already tightly monitored.
A campus security official told the newspaper that the photocopy ban was “none of your business.”
The report says the local Yanyuan police station issued the ban.
A man answering the phone at the police station said they were not aware of the issue.
